Printing the game board and cards

To play Ticket to Ride Philly you'll need an original version of Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride Europe — so you can use its trains, train cards, and scoring markers.

Then you can download PDFs for the game board and ticket cards.

Print the ticket card pages on card stock, and cut them apart. (Or, investigate a professional game card printer.)

To print the game board, read on for three options — at home, at a copy shop with a large-format printer, or at a mail-order board game printer.

Print at home

If you have a color printer at home you can print the board PDF in 9 sheets, and tape them together:

  1. Optionally, load card stock into your printer
  2. In Acrobat Reader:

    1. Open the board PDF
    2. Click the print button or hit Ctrl+P
    3. Choose "Poster" (under "Page Sizing & Handling")
    4. Set "Overlap" to 0
    5. Hit "Print"
  3. For each of the resulting 9 sheets, trim the edges that adjoin other sheets. (You can save work by ignoring edges that don't adjoin other sheets.)
  4. Tape the sheets together. Here's one method:

    1. Use tape that will be foldable (like regular Scotch tape)
    2. Tape the top 3 sheets together horizontally, leaving tiny gaps (to allow folding)
    3. For each of those top 3 sheets, tape it vertically with the 2 sheets below it (again leaving tiny gaps)
    4. Now you can accordion-fold each section vertically, and then accordion-fold the 3 groups horizontally
    5. (If you discover an improvement on this method please let me know!)

Print at a copy shop

The game board size is 31.5 x 24 inches, which should be printable at any copy shop with a large-format printer (like Staples).

  1. Get the board PDF printed. At this writing (December 2025), the cost at Staples is $33.
  2. Optionally fold the result for storage once it uncurls

Print at a mail-order board game printer

We got a beautiful professional-looking board in 2024 from BoardGamesMaker.com for $46 plus $27 for shipping. They were the best of a few options we saw. Here's how:

  1. Go to their Custom Size Game Board page
  2. Enter 24 for "Open Size Length" and 31.5 for "Open Size Width"
  3. In the "Fold" dropdown choose "Six-fold"
