Country Bumpkin
By Michael Barraclough; 1979
Longways, 4-6 couples
A1: |
Long lines forward and back (8) (Line on right side raise joined hands to make arches) Trade places with partner (left side people going under the arches) (8) |
A2: |
Top couple gallop down and back (16) (Top couple face across; others face up) |
B1/B2: |
Horseshoe Grand Chain (32): Top couple start a grand chain, pulling in others one by one. Top couple meet at the bottom and make a two-handed arch. Others continue grand chain to meet below the arch, come through the arch, and continue up to re-form the set. |
Very satisfying when the Horseshoe Grand Chain is taught carefully. For a visual, someone from England suggested "Up one trouser leg and down the other."
