Rick Mohr

I'm currently taking a sabbatical from full time work, living in Philadelphia, and musing on what's next. Some recent pictorial highlights include the great Beatles Contra Dance in Maine, my Winter at Cobb Hill, my Summer 2007 Travels, and the ever-impressive Lake Michigan.

Online evidence of my software career include Vocola (which helps control computers by voice), sites like Print My Bumper Sticker (which use Pageflex software), and a song about fonts.

Many weekends find me traveling to call and play fiddle for contra dances, a source of great pleasure and friends. Here is a schedule of upcoming calling dates and recent calling dates.

Some may also know me as a dance composer; here are some of my dances that have avoided the scrap heap. One of these days I will surely publish a book of dances, but until then publishing online is hard to beat. Click to browse, or see them all on one page. A recent enthusiasm is squantras and contrares.

A few of my fiddle tunes are at large in the world. Here are the good ones, in ABC format or in PDF. The jigs are Indian Point and Willow's; the reels are History Reel, Perigord, The Plank House, and Pleasant Street (with Mike Bell).

(Chris Walshaw's ABC Home Page describes this simple and widely used format for sharing tunes. You can search for tunes with John Chambers' amazing Tune Finder or listen and print notation with the Tune-O-Tron Converter from Concertina.net.)

I'm proud to have founded the Commonwealth Morris Men, an inspired bunch of guys who can jump pretty high all at the same time. Other Morris and rapper teams I've danced with include New Haven Morris and Sword, Greenwich Guard, and Minnesota Traditional Morris.
